Reviews and Ratings
The hotel has an impressive entrance and lobby with breathtaking views of Lake Toya. The buffet meals were surprisingly good and filling, and the onsen spa was a highlight of our stay. However, the rooms were quite dated and in need of renovation, with issues like lumpy mattresses and cigarette smells lingering in the air, which detracted from the overall experience.
Toya Sunpalace was a delightful stop on our Hokkaido trip. The views of Lake Toya were simply stunning from the lobby and our room, and the buffet dining was a highlight with a tremendous variety. However, I must mention the unfortunate experience with the smoking rooms, which was quite off-putting. Despite this, the onsen was a standout feature, making the stay enjoyable overall.
Toya Sun Resort and Spa is a unique place with spectacular lake views and a stunning onsen experience. However, the experience is marred by the pervasive smell of smoke in many of the rooms, which detracts from what could be a pleasant stay. The dining options are commendable with excellent buffets, though the room conditions do not match the quality of the common areas. It's definitely a family-friendly spot, especially for those who enjoy water park fun, but be cautious about room selections.
The hotel offers stunning views of Lake Toya, especially from the outdoor onsen, which I absolutely loved. The quick check-in and availability of a good range of amenities were positive aspects, but my experience was marred by the unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke in my room. The noise level during dinner buffet was also quite disruptive. Overall, it's a mixed experience with great views, but some serious drawbacks.
I had a fantastic experience at Toya Sunpalace! The view of Lake Toya from the lobby was just beautiful, even in the chilly winter weather. The buffet was spectacular, offering a diverse range of dishes. However, the limited English-speaking ability among staff made some communication tricky. Also, while the room was spacious, it lacked a bit in modernity, which was a slight drawback.
